Using the New Moon to Your Advantage

The new moon is representative of exactly what you would expect: newness, planting seeds of intention, and renewal.

The new moon is a magical moment where the moon and sun align in the sky, creating the illusion that the moon is a blank, black slate. This is metaphorical in that it is the perfect opportunity to start from scratch and build something new.

But how can you really use the new moon to your advantage specifically using your own birth chart?

Astrologically speaking, where the new moon falls in your chart is the perfect moment to refresh that area of life. Writing down what you want to invoke and bring to fruition as the moon waxes is a simple way to harvest this energy.

For example, a new moon in the 4th house can be a moment where rest and recovery is vital, and you may want to figure out how you can prioritize rest in your life.

Or, a new moon in the 7th house is the perfect opportunity to get clear on what connections you want to build and bring it, be it business relations, romantic relationships, or friendship connections.

Looking at house the new moon opposes will provide a deeper understanding (1st house opposes the 7th, 2nd house opposes the 8th, etc).

If the new moon is in your 4th house, then it opposes your 10th. Along with this being a great time to be a homebody and recover while you set your intentions, this recovery should help you eventually become a newer or stronger version of the way you present and express yourself in the public. Maybe a bit of introversion and reclusion (4th house) will give you clarity on how to create a more authentic and sincere version of your image in the outside world (10th house).

If you want to do a more thorough reading for yourself, looking at the aspect the new moon makes to your natal personal planets will create even better results.

A new moon aspecting your natal Jupiter in a trine, conjunct, or sextile could be a time to think big and outside the box for your next adventures in life, as that's the energy of Jupiter. However, a new moon opposite or square Jupiter could be a clue that you'll need to create a realistic plan to tackle your wildest dreams.

The next new moon is in Virgo on September 14th, 2023. With Virgo ruling lists, it's the perfect time for flushing out your ideas and getting clear.

As Virgo is mercurial, writing down, speaking, or recording these ideas would be the most favorable and ideal way. This is further supported by Mercury, the ruler of this New Moon and the ruler of written and spoken word, going direct the follow day.

This tip is doable for the woo-woo spiritualists and the practical skeptics. Regardless if you believe the moon's position in the sky to be influential in your life or not, why not use it to your advantage?
