The 10th House and 4th House Axis: Highs and Lows

Writer's picture: SydneeSydnee

If we continue with the idea that the natal chart is a visual story, we can notice how the highest and lowest parts of the natal chart have a special interpretation.

The 4th house is at the very bottom of the chart and is considered a private house (along with the 8th and 12th). It can also be representative of our roots, ancestry, where we come from, the home and family we grew up under, and things of that nature.

With all this in mind, we can interpret the 4th house as representative of what's instilled deep inside of us. It can be our inner most insecurities. A lot of these insecurities become instilled in us due to our upbringing.

The hour of the 4th house is 12am, midnight. In this way, it is the thoughts that keep us up at night and the feelings that resurface when we are alone with no distraction.

The 4th house is our ruminations and what haunts us most in the absense of others.

On the opposite end, we have the 10th house, the highest point in the sky when we were born. The hour for the 10th house is 12pm.

For this, the 10th house is who we are at our highest potential. It's what we aspire to be and what we look up to in hopes to become. It is the house of becoming, with time and effort.

The 10th house is that spark, drive and inspiration to accomplish something when the sun is overhead.

In a way, the 10th house can represent the path we will take on and achieve. As we look upward, we ask ourselves, "Who am I at my most authentic potential?".

It can also be what we feel most confident about to show to others, as opposed to the 4th house which is what we choose to hide in shame and disappointment.

Analyzing this axis in the chart, especially because they are angular houses, is imperative to our soul's growth and understanding. We must use the 10th house to know our potentials rather than falling into the depths of despair that the 4th house can bring us if we sit in that space for too long.
