When we look at the birth chart and think about the houses, we need to think of it as a story and a representation of undeniable truths about life.
One of the most obvious and important stories exemplified through the houses lies within the story of the 9th, 10th, and 11th houses.
The 9th house, in a general sense, is the education and learning journey of the native. The sign that lies in the 9th house can show what the native will want to study, dedicate themselves towards, or expand on in life.
The 10th house is the reputation, career, and goals of the native. It can represent the kind of energy the native will bring forth in the world or what they will strive to be.
The 11th house represents the audience, acclaim, rewards, and recognition the native will gain.
With this in mind, we can see a clear story showed through these three houses as they follow after each other.

We begin with the 9th house; the house of learning and studying. The 9th house is the house of expansion, and because of that, it represents how learning never stops. In fact, the 9th house shows that one will never know everything, no matter how many 9th house placements they have or however much time they dedicate to their education. Heavy 9th house placements will have an insatiable thirst for knowledge.
Following the house of education, we have the 10th house where we implement exactly what we've learned in the 9th house and bring what we've learned to the outside world in front of others. This makes total sense, as many careers (10th house) requires prior learning and education (9th house).
In order to bring forth the energy of the 10th house, we must have foundational knowledge from the 9th house. One cannot become a CEO or have a prominent career without knowledge in said career.
After we've done the studying and entered the field of our desires, the rewards of the native are promised in the 11th house. It is common for our reputation and status from the 10th house to be rewarded with acclaim and recognition. The 11th house can also represent networking; as we enter a field, we open up a variety of possible connections simply because of the field we have chosen.
Looking at the houses as a step by step formula of life offers guidance.
Even the 12th house, the house of letting go, maybe even spiritual enlightenment, or an ending, shows us that the rewards gained from 11th house can and will be lost regardless of how tightly we identify with it. The 12th house shows how all of which we have gained, learned, and gone through from the 1st to11th houses is nothing other than a journey until we've reached the inbetween (death, and where intangible souls lie) before once again being reborn, beginning the 1st house and the natal chart all over again.
