With Pluto being considered a generational planet, a planet that lasts in a sign roughly 20 years and makes its way around the zodiac every 248 years, its importance is often disregarded in natal interpretations.
Because of how slow Pluto moves, it causes a slow deconstruction and falling apart of one's ideals and surroundings. On the other side of this slow destruction, however, is complete and total rebirth.
The word "destruction" is often used to describe Pluto's influence, and that's because Pluto is considered the higher octave of Mars, yet another planet that often leads to destruction albeit quick rather than slow. Pluto's influence is a slow burn to the ground, rather than a rapid forest fire like Mars.
Mars is forceful, whereas Pluto wades until the structure is unstable enough to completely collapse.
Although extremely useful in natal interpretations, the sign Pluto is transiting will point to what in the world is going through a big change.
With Pluto transit Capricorn beginning in 2008, we saw the collapse of banks and widespread layoffs. The economy (Capricorn) completely turned upside down and crashed (Pluto). During this time we also see an increased understanding of the disparities between the rich and the poor, and the elimination of the middle class.
Pluto is dark, painful, and powerful, and it often leads to extremities. Pluto can also represent death.

The Nature of Pluto Transits
When we want to find what area of life is actively rebirthing in a native's life, we look at the house Pluto transits and especially any planets Pluto is near or aspecting.
A native with Pluto transit their natal Venus will experience financial extremes, whether it is a sudden surge in financial success or extreme lack of money and resources. On the other side, however, the native will learn the importance of being financially savvy and perhaps will come up with a tangible plan to escape Pluto's suffocation out of necessity.
Pluto transiting Sun will lead to a rebirth or death in one's identity, literally or figuratively. It can lead to an upgrade in one's business or work life, or a harsh scandal that ends them entirely.
Pluto transiting one's natal Uranus will lead to a very sudden, painful uprooting and change in their lives. The native may have things suddenly taken away from them, or a sudden piece of news that dissolves what they used to follow or believe in. However, because Uranus and Pluto combining creates a transformative experience, the native will become unrecognizable as they've completely changed following these experiences. Nothing will be as it was before.
Another interesting aspect about Pluto's transits is that since it takes so long to go around the zodiac, only certain natives will experience certain transits in their lifetime. Because of this, we can say that certain rebirths and upheavals are fundamentally destined and personal to the native.
Pluto teaches us that rebirth is not only necessary, but it will be forced if we do not take the steps to do it ourselves. If you refuse to see it, you will feel it; Pluto will force things to come to an end if it no longer serves its purpose.
